MQM Rashid Godil discharged from hospital KARACHI: Doctors at the Liaquat National Hospital on Friday discharged the Muttahida Qaumi Movement lawmaker Rashid Godil 25 days after he was seriously wounded in an armed attack that left him on a ventilator.
Officials said Mr Godil’s condition was stable early this week before his party recorded his 30-second video message in which he thanked the countrymen for praying for him that finally resulted in his ‘miraculous’ recovery.
“Mr Godil has recovered and [is] in good health. Today, doctors have discharged him,” said LNH spokesman Anjum Rizvi. “He left the hospital this afternoon.”
Sources said Mr Godil was accompanied by his family and two of his party members when he was shifted to his house. He was also escorted by Rangers personnel.
The doctors said Mr Godil had sustained five bullet wounds — two in the neck and three in the chest and abdomen. One bullet which affected his right lung was still in the body and would stay there until he is fit to be operated upon. His driver died in the August 18 armed attack.
