BSF talks begin in Delhi today-Pakistan Rangers LAHORE: A 16-member delegation of Pakistan Rangers will leave for New Delhi on Wednesday to hold meetings with their Indian counterparts in an attempt to defuse recent border tensions which had pushed the two nuclear countries “on the brink of war”.

Independent observers rate this interaction highly significant against the backdrop of the recent heavy exchange of artillery fire.

Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) Director General Maj Gen Umar Farooq Barki is heading the delegation on a four-day (Sept 9-12) tour, while Border Security Force Director General Devendra Kumar Pathak will represent India at the meeting.

Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) spokesman Maj Waheed Barki told Dawn it was an annual meeting, but it had attained importance in the wake of ceasefire violations by India.
